I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. I received my Master of Arts degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have experience working with individuals and their families to address addiction, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, establishing work life balance, boundary setting, and LGBTQIA+ issues.
My goal for therapy is to provide a welcoming environment so that we can work together to find peace and joy in your life. I believe that you are the expert on your life and my role is to assist you in finding the happiest version. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help individuals become aware of the connections between their emotions, thoughts, and physical experiences. I also utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps individuals learn how to modify and challenge unhelpful beliefs related to past trauma experiences .
Fees
$135/53-60 minute individual session
$150/53-60 minute premarital/marital/relationship session
I utilize a combination of modalities to help you address mental health and addiction issues. My counseling style utilizes evidenced based interventions tailored to your individual needs to help you gain insight into the root issues, develop coping skills, and to set boundaries to support your long-term success. I utilize a combination of solution focused, person centered, CBT, and DBT interventions to meet these goals. In my time working with those with co-occurring issues, I have seen for myself that the research is true, these conditions stem from underlying issues and the impact of life experiences. This belief is why I strive to provide a judgment free, supportive environment for you to heal and explore these issues.
Relationships can be difficult and even the healthiest ones go through tough times. I provide an unbiased environment for you and your partner to work on issues such as trust, communication, boundary setting, conflict resolution, and intimacy. I utilize a family systems approach, which examines the family system as a whole in order to understand the individual or unit. I believe that the patterns we fall into are the greatest predictor of the future, and with an understanding of these patterns, we can become solution focused. I have also received a level I certificate in the Gottman Method, which focuses on rebuilding a couples friendship and closeness through improving skills such as conflict resolution and communication. As your couples counselor I am here to help you and your partner get what you want from the relationship, rather than telling you what your relationship should be.
I am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and I believe that you deserve a safe space to be yourself. My goal as an affirming counselor is to help you navigate your way towards finding the happiest version of yourself. Issues can include, but are not limited to: exploring your gender identity and/or expression, coming out, loss of family, sexual transitioning, and relationship issues. I am also a sex positive counselor and can help you identify a healthy balance so that you can live the best version of your life. As our world changes and evolves I want to support you on your journey to live life as your most authentic self.
